Sofia to Skopje: prices
Each price is for the whole car, one way, the same for one passenger or a full car. Times are driving times without the border and breaks.
All prices from Sofia are in the Sofia price list. More than 8 passengers: minibus or bus on request.
The road: over the Osogovo mountains
From Sofia the driver goes through Pernik to Kyustendil and climbs to the Gyueshevo – Deve Bair pass, about 1,200 m high. On the Macedonian side the road winds down through Kriva Palanka, then becomes straighter after Kumanovo, where you join the motorway to Skopje.
In winter the pass can have snow. On such days the driver may choose the longer motorway route through Serbia (Kalotina – Niš – Kumanovo) and tells you before the trip.
Border and documents
North Macedonia is not in the EU, so there is passport control on both sides. EU citizens can enter with a passport or a national ID card. Other nationalities should check the visa rules for North Macedonia, and also for Serbia in case of the winter route. Gyueshevo is a small crossing and is usually quick; queues are rare except on holidays.
Where we drop you
We drive to any address in Skopje and to Skopje International Airport, which is east of the city near Petrovec. Many passengers go on to Ohrid; ask us for that price.
Good stops on the way
Kyustendil, with its mineral springs, is an easy coffee stop before the pass. Kriva Palanka, just over the border, has the Osogovo Monastery on the hill above the town.
