The road and the border
The car drives north along the Black Sea coast to Varna, then on through Dobrich to the Durankulak – Vama Veche border and along the Romanian coast past Mangalia to Constanta. Bulgaria and Romania are both in Schengen, so there is no regular passport check, but keep a passport or ID card with you. On summer weekends the coast road is busier, so plan a little extra time.
Stops for coffee or a meal are fine whenever you ask. The way back from Constanta to Burgas costs the same.
